ShiHan Kenneth Freeman Sr., 8th Degree Black Belt is the founder of GOJU-RYU-JITSU SYSTEM (Hard / Gentle Philosophy of Techniques). Chief Instructor at the GOJU-RYU MARTIAL ARTS ACADEMY and holder of eight (8) Hall of Fame Awards, ShiHan Freeman Focused on the grappling techniques from the GOJU-RYU styles, searching out the techniques that best focused on grappling, strikes and kicks and blend them with Boxing, Jujitsu and Aikido techniques forming a unique styles to which he named "GOJU-RYU-JITSU".
On Saturday, December 8, 2001 in Ft. Lauderdale / Coral Springs, Florida the Art of Goju-Ryu-Jitsu and founder ShiHan Kenneth Freeman was inducted into The Karate Voice, Cosmopolitan Florida Hall of Fame for Founder Of The Year and Pioneer.
The GOJU-RYU MARTIAL ARTS ACADEMY was Awarded "ONE OF THE BEST KARATE SCHOOLS" Awards in the Courier Post Reader's Choice Awards for 2005, 2006 & 2007 in the BEST OF SOUTH JERSEY votes.
ShiHan Kenneth Freeman, Sr. started his training in the Art of Boxing and the Martial Arts in 1964 under the guidance of his father, and at a local YMCA in Camden, N.J.. During training he met a friend who started training in GOJU-RYU Karate in the basement of a church in North Camden. His friend invited him to training and meet his instructor, Ramon Nunez, Sensei. Since 1966 ShiHan Freeman has been training with Seiko-Sheehan Ramon Nunez, 10th Degree Black Belt in the Arts of Aki-Jujitsu, Jujitsu and Aikido and have earned the rank of Hachi-Dan Kyoshi, 8th Degree Black Belt in the art of GOJU-RYU.
As a Black Belt instructor, ShiHan Freeman competed in Martial Arts tournaments throughout the USA and Canada placing 1st, 2nd or 3rd in most and Grand Champion in some. ShiHan Freeman has boxed amateur and professionally and kickboxed professionally reaching the ranking in the top ten for USA Champion.
In 1988 ShiHan Freeman opened the GOJU-RYU Martial Arts Academy, located at 712-C Haddon Avenue Collingswood, N.J. 08108 Lower Level (F.W. Woolsworth Building). Here, his training produced numerous Black Belts of good character and skills. These Black Belts (Now Instructors and Asst. Instructor) have competed in Martial Arts tournaments throughout the United States with students reaching #1 ranking in Black Belt Forms (Kata) and Kumite (Fighting). Most of these Black Belt Instructors are still training & instructing, some at the Honbu Dojo (Collingswood, N.J.) and the others throughout the USA.
